I didn’t expect it to be this brutal. From the beginning, something feels wrong. This isn’t jump-scare horror. It’s raw. Unfiltered. Uncomfortable in the best way possible. The atmosphere is heavy and realistic. Evil doesn’t feel theatrical here. It feels ordinary. Like something that simply exists and spreads.
That dog scene genuinely disturbed me, in a good way. Not because it’s just shocking, but because it happens without warning. In that moment, you realize no one is safe. The movie doesn’t protect its characters, and it doesn’t protect the audience either.
I liked that it doesn’t over-explain things. It doesn’t guide you step by step. The rules are strange, the world feels chaotic, and the characters make frustrating decisions. But that’s part of what makes it effective. It’s not entertaining in a commercial way.
It’s disturbing in a way that stays with you. For me, it’s one of the most unsettling horror films of the last few years, and I mean that as a compliment.
